‘Happy Holiday’ is not just a Christmas song – it’s a quintessence of American jazz in its days of glory. The mellow and powerful female vocal juxtaposed against the smooth and joyful sound of jazz makes the song unforgettable, an instant Christmas classic. It was a pleasure for us to create a music video that brings this track into the modern world.

The song feels classy, sensual and highly exclusive. It's performed by a confident and strong woman and we aimed to represent those features in our plot. We pay tribute to Peggy Lee and her captivating talent by putting an independent, modern woman in the center of our story.

Prioritizing a "less-is-more" attitude and function over the form, our action is presented in the set of stylized, centralized vignettes, in which we focus on stop-motion character animation. Using mostly close shots we tell an intimate story of Lou, and her journey home during the Christmas Eve.
This journey takes us to the world where the new meets the classic. Although the story takes place in a present day, we use the aesthetics of the 50s and mid-century modern design.

Architecture, adverts, cookbook editorials and American Dream feeling were our main inspirations when creating the look of New York City. While following Lou strolling through the city streets we wanted the viewer to fall in love with the Big Apple in Winter. Like we and Lou did.
We celebrate the modern woman and generally understood equality: racial, sexual and multicultural. Our character design represents the beauty of diversity. Using the subtle Mid-Mod approach, quirky angles with soft curves and minimal ornamentation we wanted to blend our characters’ look with vintage/modern design.
